The Höhere Fachschule Technik Mittelland (hftm), with sites in Grenchen and Biel, uses AI in teaching: around 200 lecturers work with Evoya, the Swiss AI platform by Evoya AI. hftm is a college of higher vocational education in engineering, run on behalf of the cantons of Solothurn and Bern.
The lecturers use AI throughout their working day: with chatbots, with automated email workflows and as support when preparing and teaching their classes. Instead of using private accounts in different AI tools, everyone works on one shared platform where the school's data stays protected.

Starting point: AI in teaching, but privacy-compliant
At a college of engineering, AI has long been part of everyday life, for students and lecturers alike. Anyone using private accounts in public AI tools hands over teaching material, exam content or emails. The school then loses track of where that data ends up.
hftm therefore wanted to give its lecturers shared, secure access to AI that meets the requirements of a publicly mandated educational institution.
The solution: one AI platform for the lecturers' whole working day
Around 200 lecturers get access to the Evoya platform. They use AI wherever it saves time in their day-to-day work at the school.
Chatbots: With Evoya Bot, lecturers build chatbots on their own course material, for example a study companion that answers students' questions about the subject.
Email automation: With Evoya Email, recurring requests can be sorted and replies prepared, so less time is lost in the inbox.
AI for teaching: In Evoya Chat, lecturers prepare lessons, create exercises and course material and get support with assessments. More than 30 AI models are available, including the Swiss model Apertus.
Data protection: Swiss or European AI, never used for AI training
All lecturers work on the same platform instead of private accounts. Data is processed with Swiss or European AI, in line with the Swiss FADP and the GDPR, and never used for AI training. This lets hftm use AI widely without giving up control over teaching material and correspondence.
