AI driver instruction via API: how Softproject integrates Evoya AI agents into the tachograph software TachoPlus

The project at a glance
Softproject AG in St. Gallen develops TachoPlus, a widely used software for evaluating and archiving tachograph data. Logistics companies, from single drivers to large fleets, use it to monitor driving and rest times and to comply with legal requirements. Through sales partners, the Swiss software is in use throughout Europe.
With Evoya AI, Softproject has found a new approach to driver instruction: infringements are now discussed in an automated AI chat. Evoya AI agents are seamlessly integrated into TachoPlus via API. They evaluate the infringements, instruct the drivers and advise them on how to avoid violations in future.

What is driver instruction?
Driver instruction, in a business context usually called driver briefing (in German: Fahrerunterweisung), is the legally required training for employees who use a company vehicle. It serves accident prevention and occupational safety. In Germany, the accident prevention regulations (UVV) require companies to carry out this briefing at least once a year and to document it in full. Without proof, companies face fines or the loss of insurance cover.
For professional drivers, there is also the data from the digital tachograph: it shows infringements, for example of driving and rest times. These infringements must be discussed with the drivers so that they do not happen again.
Starting point: discussing infringements takes time
TachoPlus lists infringements precisely. Discussing them with each individual driver, however, remained manual work: compiling and explaining infringements, sending documents, following up on returns. For fleet managers with many drivers, this is a large, regularly recurring effort that is also prone to errors.
Softproject wanted to digitalise this process for TachoPlus customers and make the instruction so easy to understand that it actually gets through to the drivers.
The solution: Evoya AI agents in TachoPlus via API
The AI agents run on the Evoya platform and are connected directly to TachoPlus via the API.
1. Evaluating infringements: TachoPlus determines the infringements for a selected period. The AI agent summarises them clearly and puts them into context.
2. Instruction in the AI chat: the driver discusses the infringements with the AI in the chat, asks follow-up questions and receives concrete advice on how to avoid violations in future.
3. Directly in the driver app: the AI summary appears in TachoPlus OnRoad, the app for drivers. No additional tool is needed.
4. Signed and archived: in the driver instruction add-on module of TachoPlus WEB, drivers confirm the instruction with a digital signature. Each instruction is archived as an audit-proof PDF, and the company can see at any time which instructions are still outstanding.
“Integrating the Evoya Agent into our TachoPlus app was spot on! The AI automatically summarises calculated infringements and instructs the drivers as if it were a real fleet manager. This saves our customers an enormous amount of time and ensures professional driver instruction.”
Data protection: driver data processed securely
Infringements from tachograph data are personal data. Data is processed with Swiss or European AI, in line with the Swiss FADP and the GDPR, and never used for AI training. For a software provider with customers across Europe, this is a key requirement.
Results: driver instruction that is digital, clear and documented
- Less effort for fleet management: the AI takes over discussing the infringements.
- Clear instruction: drivers receive a clear summary and can ask questions in the chat.
- Targeted advice: drivers learn how to avoid infringements in future.
- Fully documented: digital signature and audit-proof archiving as a PDF.
- Added value for TachoPlus: Softproject offers its customers an AI feature without building its own AI infrastructure.

Frequently asked questions about the project
Driver instruction, usually called driver briefing (in German: Fahrerunterweisung), is the legally required training for employees who use a company vehicle. It serves accident prevention and occupational safety and must be documented in full.
In Germany, the accident prevention regulations (UVV) require at least one briefing per year. Without proof, companies face fines or the loss of insurance cover. The specific requirements differ from country to country.
An Evoya AI agent summarises the infringements from the tachograph data clearly, discusses them with the driver in the chat and gives advice on how to avoid violations. The driver confirms the instruction digitally, and TachoPlus archives it as a PDF.
The AI agent runs on the Evoya platform. The software, in this case TachoPlus, calls it via the API and displays the answers in its own interface. The software stays with the vendor, while the AI comes from Evoya. Learn more about interfaces, API and MCP.
No. The AI takes over the time-consuming discussion of infringements and their documentation. Responsibility for driver instruction remains with the company.
